2022 Dodge Challenger SXT
The 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT is old school and is a fabulous hat tip to the past. This car is the only two-door muscle car with all-wheel drive and is the least expensive way to join the Challenger club.
In 2022, the only new features for the Challenger are a security system and Key Programming Lockdown.
The new alarm system is incorporated into the Driver Convenience Group Package from Dodge and is an optional upgrade in the SXT. This new alarm system includes an alert for any intrusion detected. The alarm will automatically sound if the vehicle is moved or the glass is broken.
Key Programming Lockdown is a new upgrade for all Challengers, from 2015 to the latest models. This feature prevents thieves from stealing a vehicle and programming a new key fob.
The 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT comes in two models; rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. Both these models are equipped with a 3.6L V6 petrol-powered engine mated to an 8-Speed TorqueFlite Automatic Transmission.
Challenger SXT with rear-wheel drive has an MSRP of $37,665.
Challenger SXT with all-wheel drive has an MSRP of $41,065.
The rear-wheel drive Challenger can be expected to return fuel consumption of ± 12 L/100km in the city and 8 L/100km on the highway. For the all-wheel drive version, you reduce those numbers to 11 l/100km in the city and 7 L/100km on the open road.
Exterior & Interior Design
The Challenger is renowned for its fantastic colour palette, and the 2022 model does not disappoint. There are 13 exterior colours ranging from white through blues, reds, greens, greys, and black.
There have been no significant changes to the exterior of the Challenger for 2022.
The Challenger's interior has a simple design, with large front seats that are supremely comfortable and back seats large enough for adults to travel in comfort.
With 459 litres of trunk space, there is more than enough space to take all the cases for the family holiday and leave room for the golf clubs.
A large console bin in the centre of the cabin can be used for storing any small items.
Technology & Safety Features
The Challenger comes with over 70 safety features and driver aids. These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Monitoring, and Forward Collision Warning.
The SXT also has Dodge's all-wheel drive system. This technologically advanced system will seamlessly change from rear-wheel drive to all-wheel drive without the driver intervening. Under normal driving conditions, the engine's torque is directed to the rear wheels. When the vehicle's sensors detect additional traction is required, the system will automatically engage the front axle transitioning into all-wheel drive mode.
This system gives the Challenger impressive handling on all surfaces and enhances traction on slippery surfaces such as snow or ice.
The 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT is a good-looking vehicle with excellent technological features that is fun, safe, and exhilarating to drive. There may not be many new enhancements to this muscle car, but it remains an iconic vehicle with a rich history.
