2023 Dodge Hornet
The 2023 Dodge Hornet has two trimmed levels, the GT and R/T PHEV. With its powertrain options, battery size, infotainment, and safety features, the Dodge Hornet has enough options to suit anyone.
You want power and luxury, yet you want your sports car to maintain its eco-friendliness. The R/T PHEV can go up to 50 km on a single charge, making the balance between performance and economy just right.
Powertrain
The gas-fuelled 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, paired with the 9-speed automatic transmission, delivers 295 lb-ft of torque and 265 horsepower and can go from zero to 97 km/h in 7.16 seconds.
The Dodge Hornet R/T runs with a 1.3-litre engine paired with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. With 383 lb-ft of torque, this 285+ horsepower PHEV can go from zero to 97 km/h in 6.1 seconds with the PowerShot mode engaged and offers up to 50 km of all-electric range.
This extra horsepower gives you more confidence going up hills towing a maximum capacity of 907 kg or pulling heavy loads with a maximum capacity of 649 kg on a camping trip.
Battery
The Dodge Hornet R/T's lithium-ion battery provides up to 50 km of driving per charge, taking about 2.5 hours to recharge using a level 2 charger. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid high voltage battery has a 10-year or 150,000-km warranty.
Interior, Infotainment, and Connectivity
The Dodge Hornet is a stylish five-seater, spacious SUV. It comes with black leather upholstery, red stitching, and plenty of comfort features, including heated/ventilated seats and a sunroof.
You can enjoy your favourite music in 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound on the Uconnect 5 system. It also gives you hands-free control of your smartphone and navigation. Adaptive Cruise Control takes all the stress out of long road trips, automatically adjusting your speed according to the traffic flow around you.
Safety
The Dodge Hornet has been hailed as a leader in safety and driver-assistance features, including lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. It has automated emergency braking, which helps with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
Price & Incentives
The government of Canada wants to drastically reduce the country's carbon emissions and offers point-of-sale incentives of $2,500 to $5,000 for those who buy or lease an EV. The Dodge Hornet, a fully electric and plug-in hybrid compact car, is currently on the market at a base price of $37,995.
Fuel Economy
The EPA has yet to release fuel economy estimates for either Hornet model, but we expect the R/T PHEV to have the better fuel economy.
